Grades of concrete are defined by its compressive strength and composition of the concrete- cement water ratio, amount of Sand and aggregate, and the minimum strength the concrete should have following 28 days of initial curing after construction. The grade of concrete is understood in measurements of various units PSI (pound per square inches), MPa (mega pascals), where M stands for mix and the MPa denotes the overall strength.

25 MPa concrete is a medium strength concrete mix suitable for reinforced foundation, light duty house floor, slabs, paths, patio, driveway, steps, garage floor and all types of residential construction.

Characteristic strength of concrete is their compressive strength which can be determined by axial compression test on cubic concrete block or cylinder shape. If Compression test is carried on cubic concrete block, when tested with cube size 15cm × 15cm × 15cm, that’s known as Cubic test and their strength is called cubic strength.

And compression test is carried on cylinder shaped concrete block, when tested with 15cm dia and 30cm length of cylinder, that is known as cylinder test and their strength is called cylinder strength.

25 MPa concrete has compressive strength of 25 Megapascals, which is equivalent to 3625 PSI, 25 N/ mm^2, or 250 kg/ cm^2. In this article we know about 25 MPa concrete mix ratio or what is the mix ratio for 25MPa concrete.

Components of concrete mix manually batch by taking proportion of Portland cement, Sand, stone and water by Volume or by weight. This can measure by either Buckets or Wheelbarrow. Common used construction wheelbarrow comes in 65 litres. And one bag of cement weighs about 50 kilograms.

What is the mix ratio for 25MPa concrete

The common nominal concrete mix ratio to create a 25 MPa concrete is 1 : 2.5 : 2.5. This means, 1 part of Portland cement mixed to 2 1/2 parts of coarse sand and to 2 1/2 parts of stone.

If you measure components of concrete by bucket, so, one bucket of cement will mix with 2 1/2 bucket of coarse sand and 2 1/2 bucket of stone which yields 4 buckets of mix after batching.

If you measure components of concrete by taking wheelbarrow, so, 2 bags of 50kg of cement will mix with 2 1/2 wheelbarrow full of coarse sand and 2 1/2 wheelbarrow full of stone which approximately yields 0.26 m3 of concrete mix after batching.

Concrete mix ratio to create 25 MPa concrete are following:- 1) 1 bucket cement + 2 1/2 buckets coarse sand + 2 1/2 buckets stone (yields 4 buckets), and 2) 2 bags of 50 kg cement + 2 1/2 wheelbarrow coarse sand + 2 1/2 wheelbarrow stone (yields 0.26m3).

Noted points is wheelbarrow size is 65 litres and stone size should be 19mm to 26mm, below this 9.5mm to 13.5mm, reduce the proportions of stone by 25% in mix.
