The coverage area of wall putty, primer, and paint can vary based on factors like surface texture and application method. As a rough estimate:

1. **Wall Putty**: Generally covers around 10 to 15 square meters per kilogram for a single coat.

2. **Primer**: Coverage is approximately 8 to 12 square meters per liter for a single coat.

3. **Paint**: Coverage varies with paint type and color, but it’s typically around 10 to 12 square meters per liter for a single coat.

Estimate and coverage area of wall putty, primer and paint, hi guys in this article we know about cost and coverage area of wall care putty, primer and paint and also know about painting cost per square foot, wall putty cost per square foot, material cost per square foot and labour cost per square foot.

While making estimate and coverage area, we should find out cost of material like wall care putty, primer and paint per square foot and their coverage area.

**Wall Care Putty :-** It is a white cement-based, water-resistant, white wall putty that ensures a strong binding with building surfaces, a smooth finish, extensive coverage, superior refractive index, and paint-friendliness. Its unique formula which keep the moisture away and also avoid flaking. So, you are assured of aesthetic interiors for your dream home for years to come.

**Primer :-** primer paint for exterior emulsions that offers superior adhesion to all exterior top coats. Exterior and interior Wall Primer is a water based primer that gives a tough film and as a result, helps to provide longer life of total paint system. It does not chalk and can easily be applied on cured fresh plaster. With this exterior primer you will get extra whiteness and excellent opacity on your walls.

**Most families get their interiors done** when they move into a new house. They do not change it unless there is a dire need of renovations. However, painting is an activity that needs to happen once in a couple of years. Not only does painting give your home a fresh look, it also helps maintain the walls of the house. Naturally, everyone is interested in the cost of painting a house per square foot India.

**Various factors come** into play while arriving at this costing, like types of paint, labour charges, area and others. Moreover, due to this complexity, homeowners tend to make errors of judgement in selecting types of paint.

So here’s a detailed guide on what choices are involved, how much investment it implies and how each of these factors affect the cost of painting a house so that you budget well!

**The cost of painting exteriors is lesser, but the process is more cumbersome**, what is the surface that is being painted? This is the most important question to be answered. The cost of exterior paint is lesser than interior paint. However, the process of exterior painting is cumbersome as you may need to use scaffolding or a ladder pulley. experts say, more coats of paint and an extensive sanding/levelling process are required for exteriors as they are often more weather-beaten.

**The condition of the walls is the next factor that comes into play here**. A fresh coat of paint needs 1-2 coats of putty, 1 coat of primer and at least 2-3 coats of paint. However, for a repaint, you need touch-up putty and primer coupled with 1-2 coats of paint. Wall punning is recommended for the higher range (luxury) paints as it enhances the look by covering up undulations on the wall. Naturally, fresh painting costs more than repainting a home.

**Estimate and coverage area of wall putty, primer & paint**

Consider we have **2000 sq ft area** of new plastering wall and ceiling both interior and exterior and we have to do painting over it.

First of all, there are various types of Wall Putty in the market. So to answer this question, I will assume you have asked regarding White Cement Based Wall Putty like; **Birla Wall Care Putty, J.K. Wall Putty, White Gold Wall Putty, etc**.

Second most important factor to calculate the requirement of wall putty is surface of plastered walls. If the plastered wall has very rough finish, you might be needed to do 3 coats of Wall Putty for perfect wall finish.

If the surface finish is acceptable & there are no major undulation in your walls; you can roughly assume consumption of approximately 12–15 sq. feet per kg for 2 coats of wall putty & 8 – 12 sq feet per kg for 3 coats of Wall Putty.

**Estimate and coverage area of wall putty**

Coverage of Wall Putty in strictly depending on Plastered Surface, Skills of Applicator & No. of Coats. So you can always confirm by doing a sample on site by buying 5 kg pack from market & applying on walls.

The standard coverage area of **a** **40** **kg** bag of wall putty is **480-600** square feet (or 45-56 square meters) **with** **2** **coats** and **320-480** square feet (or 30-45 square **meters)** **with** **3** **coats.**

The standard coverage area of **a** 2**0** **kg** bag of wall putty is 24**0-300** square feet (or 22-28 square meters) **with** **2** **coats** and 16**0-240** square feet (or 15-22 square **meters)** **with** **3** **coats.**

The standard coverage area of **a** 1 **kg** of wall putty is 12**-15** square feet (or 1-1.2 square meters) **with** **2** **coats** and 8**-12** square feet (or 0.8-1 square **meters)** **with** **3** **coats.**

The standard coverage area of wall putty (Birla, Asian, and JK putty) in 2 coats is 12 – 15 sq ft per kg and in 3 coats there is 8 – 12 sq ft per kg. 1 bag of wall putty have 40 kg, so 1 bag (40kg) wall putty coverage area is 480 -600 sq ft for 2 coating & 320 -480 sq ft for 3 coating.

**The** **coverage** **of** **the** **wall** putty is **12-15** sq **ft per kg** (or 1.2-1.4 square meters per kg) for 2 **coats** and **8-12** sq **ft per kg** (or 0.75-1.2 square meters per kg) for 3 **coats.** 1 bag of wall putty **weighs** 40 **kg,** **so** 1 bag **(40** **kg) **wall putty has a coverage area **of** **480-600** **square** **feet **(or 45-56 square meters).

The standard coverage area of Asian wall putty in 2 coats is 10-15 square feet per kg at 1.5 thickness. So 1 bag of 20kg Asian wall putty will cover 300 square feet (28 square meters) for 2 coats and 1 bag **(40** **kg)** of Asian wall putty has a coverage area **of** **600** **square** **feet **(or 56 square meters).

The actual coverage depends on surface smoothness and water quantity added in mix.

The standard coverage area of JK wall putty in 2 coats is 14 square feet per kg at 1.5 thickness. So 1 bag of 20kg JK wall putty will cover 280 square feet (26 square meters) for 2 coats and 1 bag **(40** **kg)** JK wall putty has a coverage area **of** **560** **square** **feet **(or 52 square meters).

The standard coverage area of Birla wall care putty in 2 coats is 16-20 square feet per kg at 1.5 thickness. So 1 bag of 20kg Birla wall putty will cover 320 square feet (30 square meters) for 2 coats and 1 bag **(40** **kg)** Birla wall putty has a coverage area **of** **640** **square** **feet **(or 60 square meters).

**What is the coverage of 40 kg Putty**

1 bag of wall putty weighs 40 kg. Typical 1 bag of 40 kg wall putty will cover an area of **480-600 square feet** (or 45-56 square meters) for 2 coats

**How much putty required for 100 sq ft?**

The amount of wall putty required for 100 sq ft (square feet) area for 2 coats is about 7-8 kg. Typically wall putty requires 7-8 kg putty per 100 square feet for 2 coats. To calculate the amount of putty for 100 sq ft, divide it by putty coverage per sq ft i. e 100/12 = 8 kg, or 100/ 15 = 7 kg. So, 7 to 8 kg of wall putty required to cover 100 square feet area.

**How much putty required for 200 sq ft?**

The amount of wall putty required for 200 sq ft (square feet) area for 2 coats is about 14-16 kg. Typically wall putty requires 14-16 kg putty per 200 square feet for 2 coats. To calculate the amount of putty for 200 sq ft, divide it by putty coverage per sq ft i. e 200/12 = 16 kg, or 200/ 15 = 14 kg. So, 14 to 16 kg of wall putty required to cover 200 square feet area.

The **consumption** **of** wall **putty** is **0.7-0.8** kg per square meter **(or sqm, m2)** for 2 coats**.** **However,** **the** average consumption **of putty** is about 20 kg **per** 25 m2. It means 1 sqm wall putty requires 0.8 kg of putty.

The **consumption** **of** wall **putty** is **0.074-0.065** kg per square foot **(or sqft)** for 2 coats**.** **However,** **the** average consumption **of putty** is about 20 kg **per** 270 m2. It means 1 sqft wall putty requires 0.074 kg of putty.

If we talk about wall putty coverage area in square metre per kg then wall putty coverage area is 1.2 – 1.4 sq meter per kg for 2 coat and 0.75 – 1.2 sq m per kg for 3 coat. 1 bag of wall putty have 40 kg,so 1 bag (40kg) wall putty coverage area is 45 – 56 sq m for 2 coating & 30 – 45 sq m for 3 coating.

**Calculating cost and quantity of wall putty and their material estimate we have do following steps:-**

● Area = 2000 sq ft

● Wall putty coverage = 14 sq ft/Kg for 2 coats

● Wall putty required = 2000/14 = 143 kg

● 1 bag wall putty = 40 kg, no of bag of wall putty in 143 kg = 143/40 = 3.58, so 3.58 number of bag of wall putty require

● 1 bag wall putty cost = rs 800

● Estimate and cost of material of wall putty = 800 × 3.58 = rs 2864

● Consider labour cost approx rs 3 per sq ft for 2 coating wall putty.

● Cost of labour = 2000 × 3 = rs 6000

**Estimate & cost of wall putty = wall putty material cost + labour cost**

Cost of wall putty installation = 2864 + 6000 = rs 8864 for 2000 sq ft. And for 1 sq ft = 8864/2000 = rs 4.5.

**Wall putty cost per square foot:**– In India, the price/cost of wall putty is approximately **4.5 rupees** per square foot. This includes labour and material costs for two coats.

**Estimate and coverage area of wall primer**

Primer paint for exterior emulsions that offers superior adhesion to all exterior top coats. Exterior and interior Wall Primer is a water based primer that gives a tough film and as a result, helps to provide longer life of total paint system. It does not chalk and can easily be applied on cured fresh plaster. With this exterior primer you will get extra whiteness and excellent opacity on your walls.

**The** **coverage** **of** **the** **wall** primer is about **120-140** sq **ft per liter** (or 11-13 square meters per liter) for 1 **coat** and 90**-100** sq **ft per liter** (or 8.5-9.5 square meters per liter) for 2 **coats.**

Coverage area of wall primer is 120-140 sq ft per liter for 1 coat and 90-100 sq ft per liter for 2 coats.

Primer coverage area is 120- 140 sq ft per liter for 1 coat and 90- 100 sq ft per liter for 2 coats.

Primer coverage area is 11-13 square meters per liter for 1 coat and 8.5 – 9.5 square meters per liter for 2 coats.

Cement primer coverage area is 120 to 140 square feet (or 11 to 13 square meters) per liter for 1 coat and 8.4 to 9.3 square meters (90 to 100 square feet) per litre for 2 coat.

If we talk about his square metre then coverage area of cement primer is 11-13 sq m per litre for 1 coat and 8.4 – 9.3 sq m per litre for 2 coat

**Calculating cost and quantity of wall primer and their material estimate we have do following steps:-**

● Area = 2000 sq ft

● coverage area of primer = 100 sq ft per litre

● quantity of primer required = 2000/100 = 20 litre

● Rate of primer = rs 200 per litre, then cost of 20 litre primer = 200 × 20 = rs 4000.

● labour cost for primer = rs 1 per sq ft, then labour cost for 2000 square feet primer work = 2000×1 = rs 2000

Estimate & cost of wall primer = wall primer material cost + labour cost

Cost of wall primer = 4000 + 2000 = rs 6000

Total cost of wall primer is rs 6000 for 2000 square feet primer work, if we talk about per square feet installation cost, then it will be 6000/2000 = rs 3

**Wall Primer cost per square foot:**– In India, the price/cost of primer is approximately **3 rupees** per square foot. This includes labour and material costs for two coats.

**Estimate and coverage area of paint**

Coverage area of paint is 140 – 160 sq ft per litre for 1 coat and 70 – 80 sq ft per litre for 2 coat.

**The** **coverage** **of** **the** paint is about **140-160** sq **ft per liter** (or 12-14 square meters per liter) for 1 **coat** and 70**-80** sq **ft per liter** (or 6.5-7.5 square meters per liter) for 2 **coats.**

If we talk about in square metre for new work plastering coverage area of paint is 8 sq m per litre for 2 coat and for old work coverage area of paint is 13.33 sq m per litre for 1 coat.

Calculating cost and quantity of waterproofing paint and their material estimate we have do following steps:-

● Area = 2000 sq ft

● coverage area of paint = 75 sq ft per litre for 2 coat

● quantity of paint required = 2000/75 = 27 litre

● Rate of paint = rs 400 per litre, then cost of 27 litre paint = 400 × 27 = rs 10800.

● labour cost for paint = rs 3 per sq ft, then labour cost for 2000 square feet painting work = 2000×3 = rs 6000.

Estimate & cost of wall paint = wall paint material cost + labour cost

Cost of wall paint = 10800 + 6000 = rs 16800

Total cost of wall paint is rs 16800 for 2000 square feet painting work, if we talk about per square feet installation cost, then it will be 16800/2000 = rs 8.4

**Paint cost per square foot:**– In India, the price/cost of wall paint is approximately **8-9 rupees** per square foot. This includes labour and material costs for two coats.
