T post length can be easily calculated by added post length below ground which is a minimum of 2-1/2 plus the height of fence post above ground which may be 4 to 6 feet and extra 6″. This will give you the minimum length of post required to establish a T post fence.
Lets take one example, if you want to establish 4 ft T- post fence around your property. Total length of T-post fence = depth of fence buried in ground (2-1/2) + height of fence + 6 inches extra = 2′ 6″+ 4′ + 6″ = 7 feet. So, you will need at least 7 feet length of post to build T post fence.
What size T- post for 4 foot fence
For a 4 foot high fence, you should use T-posts size that are atleast 7 feet in length, out of 7 feet, 2.5 feet buried in ground, 6″ is kept for extra and rest 4 feet above the ground. Thus, for established a 4 foot fence you will need minimum of 7 feet long size T- post. So fencing that is 4 feet tall requires 7-foot tall T- posts fence.
What size T- post for 5 foot fence
For a 5 foot high fence, you should use T-posts size that are atleast 8 feet in length, out of 8 feet, 2.5 feet buried in ground, 6″ is kept for extra and rest 5 feet above the ground.
