How do i figure out how many cubic meters of concrete i need?

Ready mix concrete is mixture of Portland cement, sand and aggregate with some admixture like accelerator, reducer, plasticizer. Each ingredients of concrete required in adequate quantities according to achieve targeted compressive strength or design of a concrete structure.

Ready mix concrete can be used for building or repairing foundation walls, fence post, sidewalks, curbs, steps, shed floor, pergolas, concrete path and ramps and for setting posts and others concrete structure like, footing, slab, beam and columns.

Weight of Ready mix concrete in dry condition is about 133 lbs per cubic foot, 3600 lbs per cubic yard, 17.826lb/ gallon, 21.36kN/ m3, 2.136kg/ litre, 1.234 oz/ inch3, 60kg/ CF, or which is approximately equal as 2136 kg per cubic meter. The weight of concrete is determined by its density, which can vary based on the amount of aggregate, water, and air in the mix.

In this articles you know about how do i figure out how many cubic meters of concrete i need? This will help to viewers in better understanding and it is easy to choose the most suitable bag size of concrete you wanted according to requirement.

Concrete ready mix made of blended mix of Portland cement, sand gravel and other approved ingredient. You need to calculate the volume of concrete in cubic meter before ordering the mixed concrete. Concrete is usually ordered in cubic metres.

Volume of required concrete quantity is calculated by multiplying length, width and depth of slab. Generally depth will be 100mm, 125mm, 150mm and 200mm

The Concrete Calculator estimates the volume and weight of concrete necessary to cover a given area. Purchasing slightly more concrete than the estimated result can reduce the probability of having insufficient concrete

How do i figure out how many cubic meters of concrete i need?

To figure out how many cubic meters of concrete i need multiply the length and width of your slab in meter, result will be area in square meter then finally multiply the area with thickness in meter, this will give you required quantity of concrete you need in cubic meters. Generally concrete quantity order in cubic meters.

Lets do the calculation:-
At 100mm thickness:-
1) Determine how thick you want the concrete
Measure the length and width that you’d like to cover, suppose such as thickness = 100mm, length = 5m and width = 4m

2) Multiply the length by the width to determine square meter area such as 5m × 4m = 20m2

3) Convert the thickness from mm to meter
Such as 100÷1000 = 0.1 meter

4) Multiply the thickness in meter by the square meters area to determine cubic meters such as 20m2 × 0.1m = 2m3

5) convert cubic meters of concrete in cubic yards by multiplying by 1.3 such as 2 × 1.3 = approx 2.6 cubic yards

Thus you need 2 cubic meters (which is approximately equal as 2.6 cubic yards) of concrete for your 5m×4m slab at 100mm thick.

At 125mm thickness:-
1) Determine how thick you want the concrete
Measure the length and width that you’d like to cover, suppose such as thickness = 125mm, length = 5m and width = 4m

2) Multiply the length by the width to determine square meter area such as 5m × 4m = 20m2

3) Convert the thickness from mm to meter
Such as 125÷1000 = 0.125 meter

4) Multiply the thickness in meter by the square meters area to determine cubic meters such as 20m2 × 0.125m = 2.5m3

5) convert cubic meters of concrete in cubic yards by multiplying by 1.3 such as 2.5 × 1.3 = approx 3.25 cubic yards

Thus you need 2.5 cubic meters (which is approximately equal as 3.25 cubic yards) of concrete for your 5m×4m slab at 125mm thick.

At 150mm thickness:-
1) Determine how thick you want the concrete
Measure the length and width that you’d like to cover, suppose such as thickness = 150mm, length = 5m and width = 4m

2) Multiply the length by the width to determine square meter area such as 5m × 4m = 20m2

3) Convert the thickness from mm to meter
Such as 150÷1000 = 0.15 meter

4) Multiply the thickness in meter by the square meters area to determine cubic meters such as 20m2 × 0.15m = 3m3

5) convert cubic meters of concrete in cubic yards by multiplying by 1.3 such as 3 × 1.3 = approx 3.9 cubic yards

Thus you need 3 cubic meters (which is approximately equal as 3.9 cubic yards) of concrete for your 5m×4m slab at 150mm thick.

At 200mm thickness:-
1) Determine how thick you want the concrete
Measure the length and width that you’d like to cover, suppose such as thickness = 200mm, length = 5m and width = 4m

2) Multiply the length by the width to determine square meter area such as 5m × 4m = 20m2

3) Convert the thickness from mm to meter
Such as 200÷1000 = 0.2 meter

4) Multiply the thickness in meter by the square meters area to determine cubic meters such as 20m2 × 0.2m = 4m3

5) convert cubic meters of concrete in cubic yards by multiplying by 1.3 such as 4 × 1.3 = approx 5.2 cubic yards

Thus you need 4 cubic meters (which is approximately equal as 5.2 cubic yards) of concrete for your 5m×4m slab at 200mm thick.

Conclusion:-
To figure out how many cubic meters of concrete i need, multiply the length, width and thickness of your slab in meter, result will be required quantity of concrete you will need.
