Density of brick in kN/m3, kg/m3, lb/ft3, g/cm3 and kg/mm3

The density of brick can vary and depends on its composition and manufacturing process, but a common range is around 1,800 to 2,200 kg/m³, 1.8 to 2.2 kN/m³, 1.8 to 2.2 g/cm³ or 112 to 138 lb/ft³. Factors such as the type of clay or shale used, the firing temperature, and any additives can influence the density of the final brick.

Bricks are the most vital for construction, and they are often the bedrock of most of the construction. In these modern days, types of bricks used in building construction have become more refined, with better strength and stability, all at a lower cost.

Bricks are made of mix of clay soil and sand, it will be molded with steel mould, sun – dry, and burnt in kiln to obtaining first class red clay brick. It has good strength and used to made exterior walls and partition wall in residential and commercial building.

In this article we read about density of brick in different unit like kilo Newton per cubic metre represented as kN/m3, kilogram per cubic metre represented as kg/m3, Pounds per cubic foot represented as lb/ft3, grams per cubic centimetre represented as g/cm3 and kilogram per cubic milimeter represented as kg/mm2.

According to IS 875 PART 1: 1987, The unit weight of some common building materials is given below:

1. The unit weight of the brick masonry is about 18.85 to 22 kN/m3

2. The unit weight of the stone masonry is about 20.4 to 26.50 kN/m3

3. The unit weight of the cement masonry is about 22 to 23.5 kN/m3

4. The unit weight of the reinforced concrete is about 22.75 to 26.5 kN/m3

5. The unit weight of the common burnt clay brick is about 15.7 to 18.85 kN/m3.

Density is also known as Unit Weight of material which is defined as mass per unit volume. Density represented by symbol, the Greek letter ρ (rho), such that density = unit mass/ unit volume, ρ (rho)= m/V, where m is unit mass and V is unit volume.

Unit Weight of brick masonry wall

The density is also known as unit weight of material defined as the ratio of mass per unit volume, Generally density or unit weight of brick masonry wall is ranging between 20 to 22 kN/m3 or 2000 to 2200 kg/m3, when it is provided with cement mortar.

What is the density of brick

Brick is one of the most important building material, widely used all over the world, in India, in United States, in UK, in Australia and other countries used to build exterior and interior wall in any type residential and commercial building as load bearing structure or non load bearing structure. Generally density or unit weight of brick is ranging between 1600 to 1920kg/m3 or 100 to 120 lb/ft3.

The density of a typical red brick is around 1,920 kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³), 1.92 kilo Newton per cubic meter (kN/m³), 120 pounds per cubic foot (lb/ft³), or 1.92 gram per centimeter (g/cm³).

Density of brick in kN/m3

The density of brick typically ranges from 1,800 to 2,400 kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³). To convert this to kilonewtons per cubic meter (kN/m³), you can divide the density in kilograms by 1,000, as 1 kilogram is equal to 0.001 kilonewtons. So, the density of brick in kN/m³ is about 1.8 to 2.4 kilonewtons per cubic meter.

Density of brick in kg/m3

The Unit Weight of brick measured in different unit, when it measured in kilogram per cubic metre represented as kg/m3, their weight should be ranging between 1600 to 1920 kg/m3, therefore density or unit weight of brick in kg/m3 is ranging between 1600 to 1920 kg/m3.

Density of brick in lb/ft3

The density or Unit Weight of brick measured in different unit, when it measured in pounds per cubic foot represented as lb/ft3, their weight should be ranging between 100 to 120 lb/ft3, therefore density or unit weight of brick in lb/ft3 is ranging between 100 to 120 lb/ft3.

Density of brick in g/cm3

The density or Unit Weight of brick measured in different unit, when it measured in gram per cubic centimeter represented as g/cm3, their weight should be ranging between 1.6 to 1.92 g/cm3, therefore density or unit weight of brick in g/cm3 is ranging between 1.6 to 1.92 g/cm3.

Density of brick in kg/mm3

The density or Unit Weight of brick measured in different unit, when it measured in kilogram per cubic milimeter represented as kg/mm3, their weight should be ranging between 1.6 × 10^_6 to 1.92 × 10^_6 kg/mm3, therefore density or unit weight of brick in kg/mm3 is ranging between 1.6 × 10^_6 to 1.92 × 10^_6 kg/mm3.

Conclusions:

The unit weight of a typical red brick is around 1,920 kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³), 1.92 kilo Newton per cubic meter (kN/m³), 120 pounds per cubic foot (lb/ft³), or 1.92 gram per centimeter (g/cm³).
