Cement mortar calculation for 10m3 brickwork | how much bricks, cement and sand required for 10m3 brickwork | how many bags of cement required for 10m3 brickwork | how many bricks required for 10m3 brickwork | mortar calculation for brickwork and to find out required quantity of cement sand and water for brickwork.
We calculate how much cement sand and water is required in 10m3 of brickwork and calculate cement sand and water for brickwork of 10 m3
Size of brick:- there is two size of brick one is actual size of brick and second one is nominal size of brick, nominal size is actual size plus mortar thickness. For this calculation we have taken nominal size of brick have dimension 200 × 100 × 100mm and thickness of cement mortar is about 10 mm and volume of brickwork is about 10 metre cube.

Mortar calculation in 10m3 brickwork
Given:- volume of brickwork=10m3, thickness of cement mortar=10mm, nominal size of brick =200 ×100 ×100 mm and actual size of brick = 190 × 90 × 90mm.
Calculate number of bricks for 10m3:- to figure out number of bricks required for 10m3 brickwork you will need to divide total volume of brickwork by volume of one brick with mortar such as 10m3 ÷ (0.20 × 0.10 × 0.10)m3, 10m3 ÷0.002m3 = 5000 nos bricks, thus you will need 5000 bricks in 10m3 brickwork.
Calculate quantity of mortar for 10m3 brickwork:- to figure out quantity of mortar needed for 10m3 brickwork, you should subtracting the actual volume of 5000 bricks from total volume of brickwork, then resulting figure multiply by 1.33 to calculate dry volume of mortar.
Actual volume of 5000 bricks = 5000 ×0.19 ×0.09×0.09 = 7.695m3, wet volume of mortar = 10m3_ 7.695m3 = 2.305m3, dry volume of mortar = 2.305 × 1.33 = 3m3. Thus you will need 3m3 of dry ingredients (cement & sand) of mortar for 10m3 brickwork.
Regarding this, “how much mortar and bricks required for 10m3 brickwork?”, generally you will need 5000 modular bricks and 3m3 of dry mortar ( mixture of cement and sand) for 10m3 brickwork.
What is cement mortar ratio for brickwork
mix ratio :– cement mortar ratio for brickwork is mixture of cement and sand with water, generally mortar mix ratio for brickwork is 1 part of cement mix with 3 to 6 parts of sand and water cement (w/c) ratio is kept about 0.5.
Thus several mix ratio such as 1:6 (1part cement & 6 parts sand), 1:5 (1part cement & 5 parts sand), 1:4 (1part cement & 4 parts sand) and 1:3 (1part cement & 3 parts sand) are used for different purpose.
Cement mortar calculation in brick masonry
Calculate cement and sand (mortar) quantity required for 10m3 brick masonry:-
For 1:6 cement mortar:-
Dry volume of mortar is about 3m3, takin mix ratio 1:6, add this ratio such as 1+6 =7, you get total proportion is equal to 7 and part of cement quantity is 1/7 of dry volume of mortar.
Cement quantity = 1/7 × 3m3 × 1440kg /m3 = 617kg, one cement bag weighs around 50kg, so number of bags of cement such as 617÷50 = 13 bags, thus you will need 13 bags of 50kg cement for 10m3 brick masonry by taking 1:6 mix.
Sand quantity = 6/7 × 3m3 × 35.3147 = 91 cubic feet, thus you will need 91 cft or 2.6m3 of sand for 10m3 brick masonry by taking 1:6 mix.
For 1:5 cement mortar:-
Dry volume of mortar is about 3m3, takin mix ratio 1:5, add this ratio such as 1+5 =6, you get total proportion is equal to 6 and part of cement quantity is 1/6 of dry volume of mortar.
Cement quantity = 1/6 × 3m3 × 1440kg /m3 = 720kg, one cement bag weighs around 50kg, so number of bags of cement such as 720÷50 = 15 bags, thus you will need 15 bags of 50kg cement for 10m3 brick masonry by taking 1:5 mix.
Sand quantity = 5/6 × 3m3 × 35.3147 = 88 cubic feet, thus you will need 88 cft or 2.5m3 of sand for 10m3 brick masonry by taking 1:5 mix.
For 1:4 cement mortar:-
Dry volume of mortar is about 3m3, takin mix ratio 1:4, add this ratio such as 1+4 =5, you get total proportion is equal to 5 and part of cement quantity is 1/5 of dry volume of mortar.
Cement quantity = 1/5 × 3m3 × 1440kg /m3 = 864kg, one cement bag weighs around 50kg, so number of bags of cement such as 864÷50 = 18 bags, thus you will need 18 bags of 50kg cement for 10m3 brick masonry by taking 1:4 mix.
Sand quantity = 4/5 × 3m3 × 35.3147 = 85 cubic feet, thus you will need 85 cft or 2.4m3 of sand for 10m3 brick masonry by taking 1:4 mix.
For 1:3 cement mortar:-
Dry volume of mortar is about 3m3, takin mix ratio 1:3, add this ratio such as 1+3 =4, you get total proportion is equal to 4 and part of cement quantity is 1/4 of dry volume of mortar.
Cement quantity = 1/4 × 3m3 × 1440kg /m3 = 1080kg, one cement bag weighs around 50kg, so number of bags of cement such as 1080÷50 = 22 bags, thus you will need 22 bags of 50kg cement for 10m3 brick masonry by taking 1:3 mix.
Sand quantity = 3/4 × 3m3 × 35.3147 = 80 cubic feet, thus you will need 80 cft or 2.25m3 of sand for 10m3 brick masonry by taking 1:3 mix.
