How to calculate cutting length of spiral stirrups

How to calculate cutting length of spiral stirrups,Cutting length of helical stirrups,helical stirrup used in round pile and column and in this topic we know about how to calculate cutting length of spiral stirrups. Another word stirrups is also known as ring or shear reinforcement.

It is closed loop of reinforcements used to hold the main reinforcement in RCC structure like column and beam. The spiral shape helical Ring used in column provide lateral support to the the main bar against buckling it is used at proper interval to beam and column to prevent them from buckling.

Also they protect RCC structure from collapsing during seismic activity like earthquake. It is used to resist lateral shear stress and diagonal tension stress in RCC structure and provide stability to the reinforcement of Steel bar.let us discuss about how to calculate cutting length of spiral stirrups.

Cutting length of spiral stirrups

It is total length of spiral shape closed ring having helical structure used in round pile and column. suppose we have given following

How to calculate cutting length of spiral stirrups
How to calculate cutting length of spiral stirrups

Round column top diameter= 600 mm

Round column bottom dia = 600 mm

Helical stirrup height = 4000 mm

Clear cover = 40 mm

Pitch or spacing = 200 mm

Now calculate cutting length of spiral stirrup

Diameter of stirrup = 600mm_ (2 cover)

Diameter of stirrup = 600_2×40 mm

Diameter of stirrup = 520 mm

Cutting length = n √ (c)^2+(s)^2

n = no. of turns

C = circumference of stirrup

S = spacing

n = no. of turns = height/spacing

n = 4000/200 =20

C= π D = 3.14×520 =1632.8 mm

Spacing = 200 mm

Putting all the value in given formula

Cutting length = n √ (c)^2+(s)^2

CL = 20 √ 1633^2+200^2

CL = 20 √ 2706036

CL = 20×1645 mm = 32900 mm

Cutting length = 32.9 meter

Weight of helical stirrups= 8×8×32.9/162

Weight = 13 kg
