**How to calculate Steel quantity for rcc slab**

**We have given**:-

Width of slab = 20 feet

Length of slab = 40 feet

Main bar dia = 10 mm

Distribution bar dia = 8 mm

Spacing between main bar = 6 inch =0.5 feet

Spacing between distribution bar = 6 inch

**Calculation** :-

No. of main bar =(length of slab/spacing)+1

Main bar = (40/0.5) +1

Main bar = 80+1 = 81 nose

No. of distribution bar =(length of slab/spacing)+1

Distribution bar = (20/0.5) +1

Distribution bar = 40+1 = 41 nose

Actually main bar provided in shorter direction that is width of slab

Total length of main bar = 81×20 feet

Total length of main bar = 1620 feet

And distribution bar provided in longer direction that is length of slab

Total length of cross bar = 41×40 feet

Total length of cross bar = 1640 feet

1) weight of main bar = (D^2/539)×L

Given main bar dia = 10 mm

Length of main bar = 1620 feet

Weight = (10×10/539)×1620 kg

Weight = 300.56 kg

2) weight of cross bar = (D^2/539)×L

Given cross bar dia = 8 mm

Length of cross bar = 1640 feet

Weight = (8×8/539)×1640 kg

Weight = 194.7 kg

495.26 kg (300.56 kg main bar and 194.7 kg cross bar) steel quantity required for roof casting of 800 sqft (20×40) 6inch thick rcc slab.
