# How to calculate the weight of hollow circular steel pipe

How to calculate the weight of hollow circular steel pipe,how to calculate weight of hollow circular steel pipe,in this topic we know about how to calculate the weight of hollow circular  pipe. We know that hollow circular steel pipe has many application in the field of mechanical engineering and building industry and it is widely used in the purpose of vehicle construction, Offshore construction agriculture equipment ,machine construction ,axelconstruction, structural engineering, crane formation, and of structural Steel products like formation of Airports Stadium and highrise bridges and building.

Circular Steel section can be rolled from variety of material the most common material among them is Hot and Cold rolled Steel Tube and hot rolled hollow section are mainly utilized for structural purpose

## What is hollow circular steel pipe

in this topic we know about how to calculate the weight of hollow circular steel pipe ads comes in the barrier size of cross section like outer diameter is about 21.3 to 500 mm and having wall thickness is 1.8mm to 14.27 mm.

We know that hollow circular steel pipe is also known as round Steel Tube

### How to calculate the weight of hollow circular steel pipe

1) Given :-

Outer dia of steel pipe = 60 mm

Thickness of steel pipe = 3 mm

Length of steel pipe = 1 m

Density of steel = 7850 kg/m3

2) Calculation:-

Weight = volume × density

Volume = π/4D^2h

We have D1= 60 mm = 0.060 m

D2( inner dia)= outer dia_ thickness

D2 = 60mm_ 3mm

D2= 57 mm = 0.057 m

Volume = π/4(D1^2_D2^2) h

Volume = 3.14/4(0.060^2_0.057^2) 1 m3

Volume = 0.0002355 m3

Weight = 0.0002355 m3× 7850 kg/m3

Weight = 1.85 kg/m

1.85 kg is weight of hollow circular steel pipe per meter with dimension outer dia 60 mm and thickness is 3 mm

1. Can you check your formula/output. I am getting different answer than yours.

3.14/4(0.000351)*1 = 0.000275535m3 instead of 0.0002355 m3.
