Internal plaster cost per square foot with material in India

Cost per square foot for 12mm (1:6) internal/plain surface/plain face of plaster include quantity of cement sand and water and Labour expenses, now do the following step calculation find out Cost and quantity of cement sand used in plastering.

● Step 1 : Dry volume of cement mortar :– consider we have plastering area 100 sq ft and their thickness is 12mm or 0.5″, now calculate wet volume of cement mortar = 100× 0.5/12 = 4.17 ft3.

Suppose 5% of wastage of cement mortar during plastering work,so 5% of 4.17ft3 = 0.2085ft3, then total wet volume of cement mortar = 4.17 + 0.2085 = around 4.38 ft3.

For conversion of wet volume to dry volume we will multiply 1.33 into wet volume,so

Dry volume = 1.33 × wet volume

Dry volume of mortar = 1.33 × 4.38 = around 5.83ft3, so dry volume of cement mortar is equal to 5.83 ft3.

● Step 2 : quantity of cement sand and their cost :- we have given cement sand ratio is 1:6 in which one part is cement and 6 part is sand. And density of cement = 40.75 kg/ft3 and 1m3 sand = 35.3147 cft.

Quantity of cement = 1/7× 5.83ft3 ×40.75 kg/ft3 = 34 Kg, if market rate of cement is rs 8 per kg, then cost of 34 kg cement = 34 × 8 = Rs 272.

Quantity of sand = 6/7 × 5.83ft3 = around 5 cft, if market rate of sand is Rs 40 per cft, then cost of 5 cft sand = 5 ×40 = Rs 200.

● step 3 :- quantity and cost of material required for 100 square foot internal wall plastering is sum of cement quantity and sand quantity.

Subtotal material cost = cement cost + sand cost = 272 + 200 = Rs 472.

● step 4 :- labour rate and charges:- labour rate and cost for external wall plastering is around rs 15 to 25 per sq ft or rs 193 to 269 per sq m, consider labour rate and cost in this calculation is Rs 18 per sq foot.

Labour cost for 100 sq ft plastering= 100 × 18 = Rs 1800.

Hence subtotal cost = 472 + 1800 = Rs 2272

● step 5 :- others expenses :- other expenses include contractor profit 10%, overhead expenses 1.5%, water charges and curing 2% and equipment and tools charges 1.5%. So other total expenses is about 15%, so others expenses 15% of 2272 = Rs 341.

Total cost for internal wall plaster = 2272 + 341 = Rs 2613.

In India,12mm thick, mix ratio 1:6, internal wall/plain surface/plain face of plaster cost for 100 square foot is around Rs 2600 along with material (34kgs cement, 5cft sand) & labour charges & extra expenses including storage, security, equipment and tools.

Suppose 5% of wastage of cement mortar during plastering work,so 5% of 6.67ft3 = 0.334ft3, then total wet volume of cement mortar = 6.67 + 0.334 = around 7 ft3.

For conversion of wet volume to dry volume we will multiply 1.33 into wet volume,so

Dry volume = 1.33 × wet volume

Dry volume of mortar = 1.33 × 7 = around 9.31ft3, so dry volume of cement mortar is equal to 9.31ft3.

Step 2 : quantity of cement sand and their cost :- we have given cement sand ratio is 1:4 in which one part is cement and 4 part is sand. Sum of ratio = 1+4 =5, part of cement is 1/5, part of sand is 4/5 And density of cement = 40.75 kg/ft3 and 1m3 sand = 35.3147 cft.

Quantity of cement = 1/5× 9.31ft3 ×40.75 kg/ft3 = 76 Kg, if market rate of cement is rs 8 per kg, then cost of 76 kg cement = 76 × 8 = Rs 608.

Quantity of sand = 4/5 × 9.31ft3 = around 7.5 cft, if market rate of sand is Rs 40 per cft, then cost of 7.5 cft sand = 7.5 ×40 = Rs 300.

● step 3 :- quantity and cost of material required for 100 square foot external wall plastering is sum of cement quantity and sand quantity.

Suppose 5% of wastage of cement mortar during plastering work,so 5% of 2.08ft3 = 0.104ft3, then total wet volume of cement mortar = 2.08 + 0.104 = around 2.184 ft3.

For conversion of wet volume to dry volume we will multiply 1.33 into wet volume,so

Dry volume = 1.33 × wet volume

Dry volume of mortar = 1.33 × 2.184 = around 2.9ft3, so dry volume of cement mortar is equal to 2.9ft3.

● Step 2 : quantity of cement sand and their cost :- we have given cement sand ratio is 1:4 in which one part is cement and 4 part is sand. Sum of ratio = 1+4 =5, part of cement is 1/5, part of sand is 4/5 And density of cement = 40.75 kg/ft3 and 1m3 sand = 35.3147 cft.

Quantity of cement = 1/5× 2.9ft3 ×40.75 kg/ft3 = 24 Kg, if market rate of cement is rs 8 per kg, then cost of 24 kg cement = 24 × 8 = Rs 192.

Quantity of sand = 4/5 × 2.9ft3 = around 2.32 cft, if market rate of sand is Rs 40 per cft, then cost of 2.32 cft sand = 2.32 ×40 = Rs 93.

● step 3 :- quantity and cost of material required for 100 square foot ceiling/concrete wall plastering is sum of cement quantity and sand quantity.

Subtotal material cost = cement cost + sand cost = 192 + 93 = Rs 285.

Hance subtotal cost = 285 + 1800 = Rs 2085

● step 5 :- others expenses :- other expenses include contractor profit 10%, overhead expenses 1.5%, water charges and curing 2% and equipment and tools charges 1.5%. So other total expenses is about 15%, so others expenses 15% of 2085 = Rs 313.
