Rod weight per piece: 12mm, 10mm, 8mm, 16mm, 20mm & 25mm steel bar

Rod or steel bar also known as Rebar is short form of reinforcing bar, it is steel Rod or Steel wire provided as tension bar in concrete structure, used in reinforced concrete structure such as column, beam and slab of house construction and it also used in reinforced masonry structure. It is used to increase the tensile strength of concrete structure.

Rod or steel bars or Reinforcing bar/rebar surface is often deformed with ribs to promote a better bonding with concrete material and reduce the risk of slippage. The most common Rods or Reinforcing bar/ rebar is carbon steel of hot rolled round bar with the deformation patterns, the Steel rebar/ Rod may be also coated with epoxy resin material, design to resist effect of corrosion mostly in saltwater environment.

As we know that different countries in the world have their own gradation, specification of Steel and record of measurement for reinforcing bar or Rods. First remember that rebar is measured differentially in United States and Europe. while the United states, it uses the Imperial measurement system. Europe and most of rest of world uses the metric system and measured in mm.

In this article we briefly explain Rod weight per piece: 12mm, 10mm, 8mm, 16mm, 20mm & 25mm steel bar and know about 12mm, 10mm, 8mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm & 32mm steel rod weight per piece. This will help to viewers in better understanding and it is easy to choose the most suitable rebar or Rod weight per piece you wanted according to requirement.

Let us first know about length of one piece of rod or steel bar, generally in India full length of one Steel bar or rod which are used in construction are available in 12 meter or approximately 40 feet long.

Rod weight per piece: 12mm, 10mm, 8mm, 16mm, 20mm & 25mm steel bar

To calculate steel rod weight for 1 piece, use the formula D^2L/162 to figure out weight or mass for 1 piece rod in kg, where D is the diameter of steel rod and L is the full length for 12 meter and numerical figure 162 is the thumb rule number which is derived. For example 12mm steel rod weight per piece = D^2L/162, (12×12×12) ÷ 162 = 10.667kgs, hence 10.667 kg is the weight of 12mm steel rod per piece.

Rod weight per piece

Generally we use the formula D^2L/162 to calculate weight of rod or steel bar per piece of full length of 12 meter in kg. Generally, 6mm steel rod weight around 2.664 kgs per piece, 8mm is 4.74 kgs, 10mm is 7.404 kg, 12mm is 10.667 kgs, 16mm is 18.96 kgs, 20mm is 29.63 kgs, 25mm is 46.32 kgs, 32mm is 75.84 kgs and 40mm is 118.52 kgs. This is theoretical weight of rod per piece.

6mm steel rod weight per piece

Using the formula D^2L/162 to calculate rod weight per piece, generally, 6mm steel rod weight around 2.664kg per piece. Mathematical calculation such as 6mm steel rod weight per piece = D^2L/162, (6×6×12) ÷ 162 = 2.664 kgs/ piece, hence 2.664 kg is the weight of 6mm steel rod per piece.

8mm steel rod weight per piece

Using the formula D^2L/162 to calculate rod weight per piece, generally, 8mm steel rod weight around 4.74kg for 1 piece. Mathematical calculation such as 8mm steel rod weight per piece = D^2L/162, (8×8×12) ÷ 162 = 4.74 kgs/ piece, hence 4.74 kg is the weight of 8mm steel rod per piece.

10mm steel rod weight per piece

Using the formula D^2L/162 to calculate rod weight per piece, generally, 10mm steel rod weight around 7.404kg for 1 piece. Mathematical calculation such as 10mm steel rod weight per piece = D^2L/162, (10×10×12) ÷ 162 = 7.404 kgs/ piece, hence 7.404 kg is the weight of 10mm steel rod per piece.

12mm steel rod weight per piece

Using the formula D^2L/162 to calculate rod weight per piece, generally, 12mm steel rod weight around 10.667kg for 1 piece. Mathematical calculation such as 12mm steel rod weight per piece = D^2L/162, (12×12×12) ÷ 162 = 10.667 kgs/ piece, hence 10.667 kg is the weight of 12mm steel rod per piece.

16mm steel rod weight per piece

Using the formula D^2L/162 to calculate rod weight per piece, generally, 16mm steel rod weight around 18.96kg for 1 piece. Mathematical calculation such as 16mm steel rod weight per piece = D^2L/162, (16×16×12) ÷ 162 = 18.96 kgs/ piece, hence 18.96 kg is the weight of 16mm steel rod per piece.
