The unit weight of steel bars of dia 8mm, 10mm, 6mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm and so on higher depends on diameter of steel rods, length of steel rods, manufacturing process and density of steel. You can calculate the weight of steel rods by using steel formula D^2L/162, where D = diameter of rebar in mm and L = length of rebar in meter.
The steel bars are also known as by various name like steel rods, rebar (reinforcing bar), TMT bars (Thermo Mechanically Treated bars)
TMX bars (Thermex steel), Tor steel (Toristeg Steel Corporation of Luxembourg) & HYSD (High Yield Strength Deformed) bars based on manufacturing process, location, properties and latest technology. However, all different types of steel bars have common density and weight per unit volume, or little bit fluctuation.
Steel also known as reinforcement bars or rebar embedded in concrete member to increase their tensile strength. As we know that Steel are used in formation of structural member like column, beam, footing, foundation, slab of building. Different size of Steel bar supply by supplier having length 12 metre or 40 ft.

Formula for unit weight of steel
Unit Weight of steel is defined as ratio of weight of steel to its unit volume, weight of Steel measured in kilogram (kg) and pounds (lbs) and its volume is measured in cubic metre (m3) and cubic feet (ft3). Then its unit weight = unit mass/unit volume, represented as W = m/V, where W is Steel unit weights, m for mass and V for volume. It is also known as specific weight of steel or density of steel and their SI unit is kilogram per cubic metre (kg/m3). Steel is most used element in civil engineering for structural construction, after knowing the Steel Unit Weight, it is easy to calculate amount of Steel required for projects.
