What is sagging bending moment in simply supported beam
We know that simply supported beam is supported at both end by column when load is applied on Beem it will experience positive bending moment and bend in concave face structure in downward direction.
In concave face there is three layer middle one is neutral layer, below middle layer there is tension layer and upper of neutral layer is compression layer.
Maximum tension layer denoted by yt and neutral layer denoted by yn and compression layer denoted by yc.
What is hogging bending moment in cantilever beam
We know that cantilever beam is supported by only one end by column and second end is free, when load is applied on cantilever beam it will experience negative bending moment and band in convex face structure in upward direction.
Hogging is positive or negative:- Hogging is negative bending moment,and band in convex face structure in upward direction.
Top of convex face is in maximum tension and below face in maximum compression and there is a neutral layer between maximum tension layer and maximum compression layer.
It will bend in anticlockwise direction in right hand side of beam and it will bend in clockwise direction in left hand side of beam.that is hogging of beam.
