What is difference between primary beam and secondary beam

What is difference between primary beam and secondary beam,What is primary beam and secondary beam,hi guys in this article we know about what is difference between primary beam and secondary beam.in previous article you know about different types of beam their structure and properties and bending moment.

There is several types of beam some of you have heared about simply supported beam, cantilever beam, continuous beam ,overhanging being and fixed beam, tie beam ,plinth beam ,lintel beam and etc.but there is also two type of beam known as primary beam and secondary beam. In this article we know about and discuss what is difference between primary beam and secondary beam.beam is flexural structure member undergoing both compression and tension causes bending moment.

And all type of beam safely transfer its load to the column acting on it by the slab

What is difference between primary beam and secondary beam

1) primary beam :– those type of horizontal flexural (beam) structure member which directly connected to supporting compressive structure member that is column.

Primary beam is also known as main beam which Safely transfer the load to the column acting on it by the slab or by secondary beam if it is present

2) secondary beam :-those type of horizontal flexural (beam) structure member which directly connected to primary beam and not connected directly to column.this beam is known as secondary beam which Safely transfer the load to the primary beam acting on it by the slab.

What is difference between primary beam and secondary beam

understanding the introduction and definition of primary beam and secondary beam of this article which help you to distinguish between two type of beam by several points

1) primary beam is directly connected to column and form column -beam joint

Secondary beam is directly connected to primary beam and form primary -secondary beam joint.

2) primary beam is known as main beam which have longer span

Secondary beam have shorter span than primary beam.

3) primary beam is directly connected to column

But secondary beam is indirectly connected to column.

4) primary beam transfer the load safely to column which is acting on by slab or secondary beam if it is present

But secondary beam transfer the load to the primary beam which is acting on by slab

5) depth and width of primary beam is more than secondary beam

But depth and width of secondary beam is less than primary beam

6) primary beam are shear connected or simply supported and they are provided in regular building structure

But secondary beam are provided for supporting and reducing the deflection of primary beam and slab

7) primary beam act as medium between column and secondary beam

But secondary beam act as medium between primary beam and slab

8) primary beam is regular necessary component of building frame structure

Secondary beam is non regular component of building frame

I hope you all have understanding this articles that might be help you in distinguish between primary beam and secondary beam. if you like this articles please be comment and share to your friends which are interested in civil engineering.

Thanks to all🙏🙏

Concerning cement quantity calculations, some recommend adding all parts of the ratios while others don’t arguing that cement doesn’t contribute much to the volume e.g. 1:2:4 ratio can be used as:
    a) 1+2+4=7,
    b) 2+4=6.
So which is the correct one for calculations?

This is nominal ratio 1 part cement to 2 part sand to 4 part aggregates, actual calculated on the basis of design mix, you have asking about sum of volume of ingredients that will be 1+2+3=7, this will correct
