How to calculate bricks in 4 inch wall per sq.ft and brick calculation for 4 inch wall per sqm and how do i find the quantity of bricks in 4 inch brick wall.
in this topic we know how to calculate bricks in 4 inch wall per sq.ft and have to calculate number of brick in 4 inch brick wall
We know that bricks have irregular shape and size and their measurement vary according to different nation but in this topic we measured according to indian standard size of brick that is used in standard calculation.
Brick calculation for a wall we take indian standard size of brick have dimension 9″×4.5″×3″

What is thickness of cement mortar
in brickwork cement mortar is used for adhesive material and increasing their strength depends on mortar thickness. Thickness of cement mortar in brickwork is about 0.4″ to 0.5″ or 10 mm is being used.
More than 0.5″ thickness of mortar cement reduce the strength of brick wall so it might not be used. For brick calculation we should apply only cement mortar thickness of 0.4″ to 0.5″ in brickwork.
More than 0.4″ to 0.5″ and less than decrease the strength of brick wall.
how many bricks in 4 inch wall per square foot.
*Given:- we have given following measurement
Size of one brick=9″ ×4.5″ ×3″
( according to indian standard size)
Area of brick wall = 1 sq.ft
Thickness of cement mortar=0.5″
Thickness of brick wall=4″
*Solve:-
Step for brick calculation:-
1) first we should add mortar thickness in indian brick size
2)second we calculate volume of brick with mortar
3) third we should calculate volume of brick wall
4) forth we should calculate number brick by dividing brick wall volume by volume of one brick with mortar
5) considering 5 to 10% of wastage
*Calculation procedure
1)We have to add cement mortar thickness that is 0.5″ in each measurement of brick dimension.
Size of one brick with mortar
=9″×4.5″×3″ brick size
=(9″+0.5″)×(4.5″+0.5″)×(3″+0.5″)
=9.5″×5″×3.5″ brick size with mortar
2) volume of one brick with mortar
=9.5″×5″×3.5″ =166.25 cubic inch
3) volume of brick wall
=Area × thickness of brick wall
=1 sq.ft ×4″ (1sq.ft =144 square inch)
= 144″×4″ =576 cubic inch
4) Number of brick= volume of brick wall/ volume of 1 brick with mortar
Number of brick=576/166.25 =3.465 nos (approx 3.5)
5) considering 5 to 10% wastage of brick during transportation and storage
10% wastage brick =0.35 nos
6) get the total number of brick
= 3.5+0.35 = 3.85 nos
so we find 3.85 brick present in 1 sq.ft of brick wall.
Calculate number of bricks in 4 inch brick wall of 100 square feet
Brick calculation for 4 inch wall
1 sqft 4″ brick wall have 3.85 brick so
For 100 sq.ft
=3.85 ×100 = 385 number of bricks.
Calculate number of bricks in 4 inch brick wall of 1000 square feet.
Solve:-
1 square feet 4 inch brick wall have 3.85 brick so for 1000 sq.ft
= 1000×3.85 =3850 number of bricks.
Brick calculation for a wall and formula for brick calculation
one aspect of brickwork which often causes confusion is estimating how many bricks or blocks will be required for a brick wall Making these estimates is fairly straight forward using just a few figures.
Brick calculation for a wall is calculated with addition of wastage of brick. First the number of bricks/blocks for the total wall is calculated, then the additional number of bricks for any brick wall. These are added together and then a 10% allowance should be added for wastage and breakages.
Calculating the number of bricks
Brick calculation for wall first we know about standard brick size in india is modular brick which is 190 x 90 x 90 mm, the mortar joints used are normally about 10mm both horizontally and vertically.
Brick calculation for 4 inch brick wall
Brick wall calculation for single brick wall or half brick wide wall or 4 inch brick wall requires 55 bricks per square metre.
first stage is just to measure the height and length of the wall in metres, multiply them together to give the area in square metres, and then multiply this by 55.
So the formula for brick calculation and the total number of bricks for the wall is
Brick calculation formula = wall height (metres) x wall length (metres) x 55 = number of bricks
This formula is used in brick calculation for wall
Suppose height of brick wall = 10 foot
Length of brick wall = 12 foot
Area of brick wall = 10 ft × 12 ft = 120 sqft
1 m2 = 10.764 sqft
Convert 120 sqft into sqm
Area of brick work = 120/10.764 = 11.1484 sqm
Standard brick size in india = 190 mm × 90 mm × 90 mm
Suppose mortar thickness = 10 mm
Brick size with mortar = 200 mm × 100 mm × 100 mm
Hence brick length = 200 mm = 0.2 m
Brick thickness = 100mm = 0.1 m
Area of 1 brick = 0.2 m × 0.1 m = 0.02 m2
Number of brick = area of wall/area of brick
Number of brick = 11.1484/0.02 = 558 nos
558 number of bricks required for 11.1484 square metre brick wall
Number of brick in 1 sqm = 558/11.1484
Number of bricks in 1 sqm = 50 nos
Considering 10% wastage of bricks
Wastage of brick = 50×(10/100) = 5 nos
Total number of brick per sqm = 50 + 5 = 55 nos
55 nos of brick per sqm
Hence for brick wall calculation, 55 number of brick is required in 4 inch wall of 1 square metre brick wall.
Brick calculation for 9 inch brick wall
Brick calculation for 9 inch brick wall or double brick wall A one brick wide wall requires 110 bricks per square metre.
So the first stage is just to measure the height and length of the wall in metres, multiply them together to give the area in square metres, and then multiply this by 110. Brick calculation for wall used this tricky methods
So the total number of bricks for the wall is:
wall height (metres) x wall length (metres) x 110 = number of bricks
55 nos and 110 nos number of bricks present in 4 inch and 9 inch brick wall respectively per square metre (sqm)
