How many blocks will build a 10 by 10 room | how many concrete blocks required to build 100 sq ft room | how to calculate how many blocks do i need to build 10’×10′ room.
Cinder or concrete block serve as economic building material and there is a wide range of construction application for many types of Residential, Public and industrial building. Due to sturdy and long lasting building material, architect and Engineer will recommended for house construction, retaining wall, security barriers etc and this is best choice.
Concrete blocks also known as Concrete masonry units or CMU or Cinder blocks or breeze blocks. For a concrete block wall, the number of blocks you will need will depend on the size of wall and wether it is single or double skin wall.
A standard size of cinder block is 16 inch long by 8 inch high by 8 inch depth, which is represented in inch as 8″×8″×16″ or in mm as 200 × 200 × 400 (depth × height× length).
To find the number of concrete blocks you need to build 10 by 10 room, calculate the total surface area of 4 walls by multiplying height and length to figure square footage of room, divide the block wall square footage by square footage of one concrete block to get number of concrete blocks you needed. Add 5% – 10% additional blocks for accurate estimate.

How many blocks will build a 10 by 10 room
To calculate how many blocks you will need to build a 10 by 10 room, you have following data required- 1) Surface area of one wall, 2) Surface area of standard concrete wall, and 3) surface area of the opening window and door.
Formula to calculate number of concrete blocks you will need: Number of concrete blocks = Square footage of block wall ÷ Surface area of one concrete block.

How to calculate number of concrete blocks do you need.
Steps to calculate number of concrete blocks do you need are following:-
● Step 1) Determine the height and length of wall in room, given height of wall = 10 feet, length of the wall = 10 feet, width of wall = 10 feet.
● Step 2) Calculate perimeter of wall of room, such as 2(10 + 10) = 40 feet.
● Step 3) Calculate the surface area of all 4 walls, 40 × 10 = 400 square feet
● Step 4) Calculate surface area of the opening, surface area of window = 3’× 3′ = 9 sq ft, surface area of door = 3’× 7′ = 21 sq ft, total = 9 + 21 = 30 square feet.
● Step 5) Deduct surface area of openings from total surface area of the room, such as final area of the room minus opening = 400 – 30 = 370 sq ft
● Step 6) Calculate square footage of one block such as 16″× 8″ = 128 sq in ÷ 144 = 0.89 sq ft
● Step 7) To determining the number of blocks you will need, divide the total square footage by square footage of one concrete block, such as number of blocks = room sq ft/ block sq ft, 370/ 0.89 = 416 nos blocks.
● Step 7) Add 5% – 10% additional blocks (5% of 416 = 20 nos, 416 + 20 = 436, nearly 440 nos blocks, thus you will need 440 blocks for 10 by 10 room.
How many blocks will build a 10 by 10 room
Generally you will need 1.18 nos of most commonly used standard size of 8″×8″×16″ (200mm × 200mm × 400mm) concrete blocks per sq ft of block wall. So, for 370 sq ft of 10 by 10 room = 370 × 1.18 = 436, nearly 440 blocks.
To build a 10 by 10, or 10’×10′ (100 sq ft) room, you will need approximately 440 nos standard size 16″ × 8″× 8″ of concrete blocks/ cinder blocks or CMU. Thus, on average 440 nos of concrete blocks will build a 10 by 10 room.
Conclusion:-
On average, 440 nos of standard size 16″× 8″× 8″ of concrete blocks/ cinder blocks or CMU will build a 10 by 10 room.
