How to calculate load for beam per metre running length,How to calculate load for beam, in this topic we know about how to calculate load for beam per metre running length.
In structural building designing by engineer it is considered that how much load is applied and distribute in soil by Foundation footing and column.
There is various types of load acting on column. Calculating the load applied on column in structural designing size of footing column and beam will be decided.

Self weight of beam per metre running length
Calculation :- length of beam = 1 m
Assume Size of beam = 9″×12″
Inch into mm = 230mm×300mm
For calculating load for beam per metre running length we have require self weight of concrete that is 2500 kg/m3 for RCC and self weight of Steel that is approx 8000 kg/m3
Self weight of beam is equal to weight of concrete in beam and weight of Steel which is used in construction of beam. First we calculate weight of concrete in beam
A) weight of concrete used in beam
Size of column = 230mm×300mm
Running length =1m
Volume of concrete = 0.23m×0.3m×1m
Volume of concrete= 0.069 m3
Weight of concrete = volume×density
Weight of conc =0.069 m3×2500kg/m3
Weight of conc = 172.5 kg/m
We should convert in kilo Newton we get load applied by concrete in beam is about 1.725 kN/m
B) now calculate weight of Steel used in beam by Thumb Rule we know that approx 2% of concrete steel is used in beam
Density of steel = 8000kg/m3
Volume of steel is 2% of concrete
Weight of steel = 0.02×0.069m3×8000kg/m3
Weight of steel = 11.04 kg/m
Now convert kilo per metre into kilo Newton so load applied by Steel in beam is approx 0.11kN/m running length of beam
Now total weight of beam is equal to weight of concrete and weight of Steel
Total weight = 172.5 kg+11.04kg
Total weight = 183.54 kg/m
Now total load for beam is about 1.8354 kN/m acting on column
