flooring tile | no. of floor tiles needed for flooring

flooring tile| no. of floor tiles needed for flooring, how to calculate flooring tile needed for a Flooring ,in this topics learn about how to calculate number of flooring tile needed for room.

we know that while considering the area of room in square metre and square foot and taken the size of tiles you have need simply divide the total area of room by area of 1 tiles then you find number of tiles you have needed.

Flooring tile is made of marble, granite stone made of ceramic.

How to calculate number of flooring tile needed for floor

calculation steps for flooring tiles calculation

1) Simply we calculate area of room

2) perimeter of room

3) calculate skirting height of wall

4) add area of room and skirting area of wall

5) calculate skirting area of Door

6) deduct skirting area of Door

7) calculate area of single tile

8) divide total area for floor tile by area of single tile

what is skirting tile

Skirting tiles are those tiles which are laid and often used in corner of Wall up to height of 3 inches or 4 inches, you can see in image of skirting tile used in floor tile installation

How to calculate number of floor tiles needed for floor
Skirting tiles used in wall

why we need skirting tiles

We can use 75 mm ( 3 inches) or 100mm( 4 inches) skirting tiles in wall along with floor tiles for many purpose

1) to avoid damaging a wall

2) skirting tiles also act as damp proof course

3) skirting tiles looking very beautiful and it is used for also for decorative purpose

4) it is used to avoid making dirt marks on wall

We calculate number of floor tiles needed for a floor both in square metre and square foot

flooring tile calculation in square meter

Assume floor size = 4 m × 3.5 m

Length of floor = 4 m

Width of floor = 3.5 m

Door size = 2.1 m × 0.9 m

Skirting height in wall = 4″ =0.1016

Size of one tile = 0.3 m × 0.3 m

How to calculate number of flooring tile needed for floor
How to calculate number of flooring tile needed for floor

■ Calculation

Area of floor tile = 4 m × 3.5 m

Area of floor tiles = 14 m2

Perimeter of floor = 2 ( 4m+ 3.5 m )

Perimeter of floor = 15 m

Area of skirting tile for wall = perimeter × height

Area of skirting tiles = 15m× 0.1016 m

Area of skirting tiles = 1.524 m2

Total area for floor tiles instalation

= area of floor tile + skirting tiles

Total area = 14m2+ 1.524 m2 = 15.524 m2

Width of door = 0.9 m

Height of skirting = 0.1016 m

Area of door not used in skirting for tiles

= 0.9 m× 0.1016 m = 0.09144 m2

It should be deduct from total area of flooring tiles

Area for floor tiles = 15.524 m2_ 0.09144 m2

Area for floor tiles = 15.433 m2

Consider 10% wastage and for future used

10% of 15.433 m2 = 1.54 m2

Total area floor tiles we have needed

= 15.433 m2+ 1.54 m2 = 16.973 m2

Size of tile = 0.3 m × 0.3 m

Area of one tile = 0.3 m× 0.3 m = 0.09 m2

Number of floor tile you have needed

No of tile = total area/area of single tile

No of floor tile = 16.973 m2/0.09m2

No of floor tile = 189

If no of tiles in one box = 5

You need = 189/5 = 40 box

(Q2) tile flooring calculation in square foot

Assume floor size = 16 ft× 12 ft

Length of floor = 16 ft

Width of floor = 12ft

Door size = 7 ft × 3.5 ft

Skirting height in wall = 4″ =0.33 ft

Size of one tile = 2 ft × 2 ft

■ Calculation

Area of floor tile = 16 ft × 12 ft

Area of floor tiles = 192 ft2

Perimeter of floor = 2 ( 16 ft+ 12 ft )

Perimeter of floor = 56 ft

Area of skirting tile for wall = perimeter × height

Area of skirting tiles = 56 ft × 0.33 ft

Area of skirting tiles = 18.48 ft2

Total area for floor tiles instalation

= area of floor tile + skirting tiles

Total area = 192 ft2 + 18.48 ft2 = 210.48 ft2

Width of door = 3.5 ft

Height of skirting = 0.33 foot

Area of door not used in skirting for tiles

= 3.5 ft × 0.33 ft = 1.155 ft2

It should be deduct from total area of flooring tiles

Area for floor tiles = 210.48 ft2_ 1.155 ft2

Area for floor tiles = 209.325 ft2

Consider 10% wastage and for future used

10% of 209.325 ft2= 20.9 ft2

Total area floor tiles we have needed

= 209.325 ft2 + 20.9 ft2 = 230.225 ft2

Size of tile = 2 ft × 2 ft

Area of one tile = 2 ft × 2 ft = 4 ft2

Number of floor tile you have needed

No of tile = total area/area of single tile

No of floor tile = 230.225 ft2 / 4 ft2

No of floor tile = 57.5

If no of tiles in one box = 5

You need = 57.5 /5 = 12 box
