How to calculate quantity of concrete block and mortar for wall

How to calculate the quantity of concrete block and mortar for wall. And we know that concrete block for wall is made of Portland cement sand and find aggregate, for making wall of room concrete block is used in another option of brick wall in many country like India Newzealand, Australia ,United States of America and etc.

In this topic  we know about how to calculate the quantity of concrete block for wall and also calculate the volume of required mortar for block wall.

How to calculate quantity of concrete block for wall
How to calculate quantity of concrete block for wall

1)what is concrete and its types and properties

2) concrete quantity calculation for staircase and its formula

3) how to calculate weight of mild steel plate and derive its formula

4) calculate quantity of cement Sand for brickwork of 10m3

5) cement calculation in tile work of hundred square foot area

6) weight calculation of Steel bar and its formula

7) what is admixture of concrete and its types and its properties

* steps of calculation:-
how to calculate quantity of concrete block and mortar for wall

1) volume of given wall
2) volume of one concrete block
3) volume of one concrete block with mortar
4) number of concrete block
5) volume of all concrete block
6) volume of required mortar
7) quantity of cement calculation
8)quantity of sand calculation

* given dimension:-

Size of block wall:-20’×16’×8″
Length of wall = 20 feet
Breadth of wall= 16 feet
Thickness of wall = 8 inch

Size of 1 concrete block

= 1’×8’×8′
Length of one concrete block

= 1 feet
Breadth of concrete block

= 8 inch
Thickness of concrete block

= 8 inch

*Calculation process and solve:-

1) volume of block wall calculation
Wall size = 20′ ×16’×8″
8 inch = 0.666 feet
Volume= 20’×16’×0.666′

= 213.12 cft

2) volume of one concrete block calculation

Size of 1 concrete block

= 1’×8’×8′
8 inch = 0.666 feet
Volume of one block
=1’×0.666’×0.666’=0.4443 cft

3) volume of one concrete block with mortar

Let thickness of mortar is 1 inch or 25 mm,
Add one inch in length and breadth of concrete block size

Block size with mortar

= 1’1″×9″×8″
Convert all inch into feet
1’1″ =1.083′ , 9″ = 0.75′ ,8″ = 0.666′
Volume of 1 concrete block with mortar

Volume =1.083′ × 0.75’× 0.666′ =0.5414 cft

4) number of concrete block calculation

Number of Concrete block is find by dividing total volume of block wall by volume of 1 concrete block with mortar

Block = volume of wall/ volume of 1 concrete block with mortar

Number of concrete block
= 213.12/0.5414 = 393.65 nos

5) volume of all concrete block
= number of block × volume of 1 Block
= 393.65 × 0.4443 =175 cft

6) volume of mortar is calculated by subtract volume of all concrete block from volume of block wall

Volume of mortar

= 213.12 _ 175 =38.12 cft

Wet volume of mortar

= 38.12 cft

We have to calculate dry volume of mortar in mix ratio of cement sand is 1:4, volume is increased by 33% so we multiply cofactor 1.33 in wet volume to calculate dry volume.

Dry volume = 1.33× 38.12 = 50.7 cft

From dry volume we can calculate quantity of sand and cement.

7) quantity calculation of cement
Mix ratio of cement sand= 1:4
Total proportion = 1 +4= 5
hence in mix ratio cement is one part and sand is 4 part

Cement quantity

= 1×50.7/5 = 10.14 cft
1 bag cement = 1.226 cft
Number of bag of cement
= 10.14/1.226=8.3 bags

8) quantity of sand
= 4× 50.7/5 =40.56 cft.
