Weight of Steel bars size 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm & 20mm

The weight of steel bars of different sizes can vary based on the length and diameter of the bar. To calculate the approximate weight of a steel rod, you can use the formula: Weight (in kilograms) = (D^2L/162). Where: D is the diameter of the steel bar (in millimeter) & L is the length of the steel bar (in meters).

The typical weight of steel bars depends on many factors like density of steel, manufacturing process, rebar diameter and length of rebar. Density is define as mass per unit volume, common density of steel bar is about 7850 kg/m3 or 490 lbs/ft3. The diameter of steel bars range from 6mm to 40mm and higher. The common length of steel bars is approximately 40 ft (12 meters). In India common size of steel bars are 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 32mm & 40mm, their higher size can be customized.

The steel bars are also known as by various name like steel rods, rebar (reinforcing bar), TMT bars (Thermo Mechanically Treated bars)
TMX bars (Thermex steel), Tor steel (Toristeg Steel Corporation of Luxembourg) & HYSD (High Yield Strength Deformed) bars based on manufacturing process, location, properties and latest technology. However, all different types of steel bars have common density and weight per unit volume, or little bit fluctuation.

HYSD (High Yield Strength Deformed) are steel rods that are manufactured by unique technology by heating the rod. These steel bars are manufactured at a very high hot temperature and are twisted at cold temperature which makes them durable and stronger.

TmX bar is Thermex steel and are high-quality TMT bars. Both are manufactured by using a German patent technology (also known as Thermax technology) that makes the steel rods durable, strong, weldable and higher tensile strength.

Tor steel (Toristeg Steel Corporation of Luxembourg) is France based technology. These type of steel bars has been twisted at cold temperature and deformed after heat treatment process.

The steel bar is load bearing material are used in several construction, in field of industrial construction work, building construction, formation of bridge and dams superstructure of Industrial and commercial building, residential building and many types of construction in civil engineering.

The weight of steel bars measured in kilograms (kg) or metric tons and it may also calculated in kilograms per metre (kg/m), Pounds per foot (lbs/ft), kilograms per foot (kg/ft) of different size of bars such as 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm and so on higher.

In India the typical length of one piece of different size of steel bars: 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm and 20mm is approximately 12 meters or 40 feet long, which comes in Straight rod (12 metres) or U or bent shaped (6 meters).

There are two formula are used to calculate the weight of Steel bars: 1) D²L/162 in kg/m and 2) D²L/533 in kg/ft. The formula D²L/162 is used to calculate the unit weight of steel bars in kilograms per meter (kg/m), where, D = Diameter of steel bars, L is length of steel in meters and 162 is a constant value. The Formula D²L/533 are used to calculate weight of steel bar in kilograms per foot (kg/ft), where L = length in meters, D = diameter and 533 is a constant value which is derived.
