we know that shuttering area is temporary arrangement of frameworks made of plywood Steel and wood provided against to support beam column and slab in the wet concrete upTo time period when its gain desire strength.

When concrete gain its Desire strength it’s temporary structure framework of shuttering is removed. In this topic we calculate shuttering area of column beam and slab, shuttering area of slab is measured in unit square metre or square feet.

How to calculate shuttering area of column

1) shuttering area calculation for column

Given column size = 0.225m×0.3m

Height of column = 3m

shuttering area calculated in square metre. Column need shuttering which cover 4 face 3,4,5 and 6 only, bottom face 2 and Top face 1 of column do not need shuttering.

Area = perimeter×height of column

Area = 2(0.225+0.3)×3 m2

Area = 2×0.525×3 m 2
Area = 3.150 m 2

Hence shuttering area of column is about 3.150 square metre

How to calculate shuttering area for beam

It is also measured in square metre, beam have also six face shuttering is calculated in only of five face 1,2,4,5and 6 face,top face 3 is not measured which is filled with concrete.

Suppose beam size =0.225×0.300 m

Width=0.225m, thickness=0.3m

Length of beam is=3m

Shuttering area of five face

Face1= 0.225×0.3=0.0675m2

Face 2=0.225×0.3=0.0675m2

Face 4=0.225×3=0.675m2

Face 5= 0.3×3=0.9m2
Face 6=0.3×3=0.9m2

Face 3= top face not measured

Total area=2.51 sq m
